Register of designated online services

Section 139E of the Broadcasting Act 2009 as amended (the “Act”) confers the power upon Coimisiún na Meán (the “Commission”) to designate relevant online services as services to which online safety codes may be applied. The Commission can designate named services and categories of services.
Section 139G of the Act obliges the Commission to designate video-sharing platform services (“VSPS”) the provider of which is under the jurisdiction of the State as a category of relevant online service. Section 139G of the Act also obliges the Commission to designate any named service that appears to it to be a video-sharing platform service the provider of which is under the jurisdiction of the State.
This register of designated relevant online services is being published by the Commission pursuant to Section 139J of the Act. It identifies the named services and the categories of services that the Commission has to date designated as relevant online services.
The Commission shall maintain and update this register from time to time as appropriate.
