Irish language
We are proud to support and promote Irish language media, ensuring it remains a dynamic and essential part of Ireland’s cultural and media landscape.
As part of our commitment to the growth and development of it, we implement strategic initiatives and build partnerships that amplify its reach and influence across all media platforms.
Through innovative funding schemes, collaborative efforts, and dedicated programmes, we strive to deliver high-quality Irish language content to audiences both in Ireland and internationally, fostering a vibrant media environment for all generations.
Funding opportunities for Irish language media
We offer essential funding to empower creators, filmmakers, and media organisations to produce authentic Irish language content that celebrates Ireland’s unique culture and heritage. These initiatives foster creativity, support professional development, and connect audiences with compelling Irish language media.

Ongoing projects and research
Coimisiún na Meán is conducting a comprehensive Review of Irish Language Media, as recommended by the Future of Media Commission. This Review is a significant project and examines the role of Irish language media in reflecting culture, politics, and society while identifying opportunities for growth, innovation, and audience engagement. The findings will guide policy development, support collaboration across the sector, and help ensure a sustainable, high-quality Irish language media landscape.
Collaboration and partnerships
The Irish Language Advisory Committee, in collaboration with Foras na Gaeilge, plays a key role in shaping the future of Irish language media. Bringing together broadcasters, content creators, and policymakers, the committee drives innovation, fosters partnerships, and works to expand Irish language programming across all media platforms.
