Sustainability
We will put sustainability at the heart of how we manage and inhabit our physical space, how we use our scarce resources, and how we support the development of sustainable practices by those we regulate.
We will support the Irish film and television industry to reduce the environmental impact of production and create content that supports a vision for a sustainable future.
From 2025, Coimisiún na Meán will manage the international partnership for BAFTA albert in Ireland.
About BAFTA albert
Albert is one of the leading international screen industry organisations for environmental sustainability. Founded in 2011 by BAFTA, they support the film and TV industry to reduce the environmental impacts of production and create content that supports a vision for a sustainable future. Coimisiún na Meán is an international territory partner for Ireland, and together we offer online tools, training, events, practical guidance and thought leadership to all screen industry professionals. The aim is to help industry in Ireland identify and act upon opportunities on and off screen that will lead to effective climate action. If you are in pre-production and want to start your Carbon Action Plan today (CAP), please register your production.
Sustainable Media Ireland
We encourage sustainability practices in our own work practices as well as in the screen industry in Ireland. We are members of Sustainable Media Ireland, a group which brings the Irish media sector together to learn, share knowledge and experience, and partner on sustainability initiatives and campaigns. Members span many parts of the media sector, from commercial, community and public-service broadcasters, to programme-makers and creative collaborators, to representative and statutory bodies.
Coimisiún na Meán provides ongoing secretariat support to the network which has three main areas of focus:
1. Promoting best practice
Fostering best practice and supports for Members to improve their performance on environmental and social issues.
2. Galvanising positive action
Encouraging Members to use their collective voice to inspire positive action across society on the sustainable development agenda.
3. Encouraging collaboration
Provide a forum for collaboration and partnership between the media sector and with external organisations.
